Child Development



The focus of Child Development is the development of a child from conception to the age of five years, developing knowledge, understanding and skills relating to all aspects of child development. Students are given opportunities to extend and apply their skills, knowledge and understanding of the development and care of children within a variety of contexts. The course promotes an understanding of the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child which is inter-linked through the study of the family, community and the responsibilities of parenthood. Students carry out independent research and are involved in the planning, completion and evaluation of practical tasks.
