Ripley News

Hello Yellow Day

Staff at Ripley decided to brighten up the day by wearing yellow today.  We did this to support Young Minds, a charity which aims to raise awareness and funds to improve adolescent and child mental health.  Ripley is participating in an exciting project run by Lancashire Mind promoting a whole school approach to mental health. Teachers and support staff at Ripley will be working with Mind Lancashire who will provide support and early intervention for pupils by training and supporting staff to be confident to talk to young people on sensitive issues.

Vice Principal Mrs Ann Casson said “we are delighted to have been approached by Lancashire Mind to be part of this project. Wellbeing and positive mental health are topics featuring in the news significantly of late. This project will help Ripley take advantage of initiatives that will help our community be more resilient.”   A number of staff at the school have already undertaken mental health first aid training. Ripley has been a member of the local Mental Health champion’s network since its inception. This project is an opportunity for Ripley to build on bespoke projects already in place and further develop its culture or care, tolerance and understanding with regard to wellbeing.
